How credits work

What they are

WorkBuddy meters large-model compute with credits. Every conversation-related request costs credits, and the amount depends on two variables:

Model token pricing. Stronger models reason better and know more, but their tokens cost more to process.

Task complexity. A short question costs little; long code analysis, multi-turn conversations and knowledge-base retrieval scale up.

Deduction order

The system spends whichever credits expire soonest (standard, advanced, ultimate, top-up packs). Where expiry dates match, base credits go before bonus credits.

Expiry

Personal:

  • Monthly membership runs from the purchase date to the same date next month (bought 5 November → valid to 5 December); annual runs a calendar year
  • On expiry the monthly allowance drops to the free tier's
  • Top-up packs run from purchase date to the same date next month
  • If the paid plan expires while a top-up pack still has credits, you can keep using the pack until it expires or runs out
  • Credits are issued monthly, valid that month, and do not roll over; bonus credits expire one month from arrival

Enterprise:

  • Runs from the purchase date to the same date next month
  • On expiry the organisation loses access to all product functionality

No roll-over

Unused credits do not carry into next month. Use them.

What burns credits fastest

Burn rateWhat you didWhy
Very highSummoning an expert teamSeveral experts in parallel over multiple turns — officially 3–5× a single expert
Very highLong conversations with Max mode onContext is never compressed; every turn resends the full history
HighContext window at 1MEvery turn is billed against the big window, and a bigger window does not make it smarter
HighComplex task plus complex SkillMany tool calls, many correction rounds
MediumSummarising connector dataConnector reads and writes are free; understanding them is not
MediumAutomationsDaily means 30 runs a month, which adds up
LowShort questions, format conversion, copy polishingSingle turn, short context
FreeMemory extractionOfficially at WorkBuddy's own expense
FreeBrowsing Inspiration, reading mail in the Agent Mail UINever enters model context
FreeLibrary storage, organising, searching, manual editingOnly AI processing is billed
FreeAccepting or rejecting AI revisions—

Four habits that keep the bill down

  1. Leave the context window at 200K and Max mode off. Raise it only for genuinely long documents.
  2. One task per conversation. A conversation that runs too long makes you pay for irrelevant history every turn. When it drifts, start a new task.
  3. Prove the direction on a cheap tier first. Validate in fast mode, then switch to maximum for the final run.
  4. Cost an automation before enabling it. 30 credits a run × once a day = 900 credits a month, nearly a quarter of the standard plan.

Upgrading

You can upgrade to a higher tier at any time during a subscription. The remaining value of the current plan is prorated automatically.

Where

The avatar dropdown inside WorkBuddy → upgrade next to the current plan; or Settings → Account; or the admin console → plan and usage.

Billing

The system charges the new plan's full price, then automatically refunds the current plan's remaining value to the original payment account. You only pay the difference.

Remaining value:

  • Monthly: monthly price × (1 − credits used ÷ total monthly credits)
  • Annual: remaining full months × average monthly price + average monthly price × (1 − this month's credits used ÷ total monthly credits)

Only base credits count towards the calculation; bonus credits do not.

Key rules

Upgrades only, no downgrades

The amount you pay must exceed the amount refunded.

Monthly-to-monthly, annual-to-annual, monthly-to-annual and annual-to-monthly are all supported, though annual-to-monthly requires buying more months than the original plan has remaining.

The minimum purchase period is the remaining validity rounded up to a whole month or year.

Credits:

  • Credits restart on the new cycle
  • Remaining base credits from the old plan are reclaimed, with the new plan's full allowance issued
  • Bonus credits are also reclaimed and reissued under the current bonus scheme
  • New credits take effect before old ones expire, so there is no gap
  • Top-up packs are unaffected — not reclaimed, keeping their validity and balance

Paying the difference:

  • The new contract is signed before the old one is cancelled; you do not have to cancel manually, and the old plan's remaining value returns automatically
  • Monthly and annual auto-renew subscriptions must cancel the old contract first, which converts the current plan to a monthly purchase, and then upgrade
  • After a subscription expires you can only buy new, not upgrade

An example

A standard monthly member at ¥99, with 4,000 credits this month (2,000 base + 2,000 bonus), 1,000 used, 20 days of validity remaining, upgrading to advanced monthly at ¥199.

  • Remaining value = 99 × (1 − 1000 ÷ 2000) = ¥49.5
  • You pay ¥199; ¥49.5 returns to the original payment account
  • New validity: upgrade date plus one month
  • New credits: 9,000 issued in full; the remaining 3,000 reclaimed (base and bonus both)
  • Top-up packs unaffected

Renewing

Manual: official site → avatar → personal home → plan and usage → renew next to the current plan → confirm and pay.

Auto-renewal: official site → personal home → plan and usage → manage under the subscription plan.

On expiry: you drop to the free tier. Content already generated is unaffected; advanced features are restricted.

Maximum term: up to 30 months. At the cap, existing entitlements are unaffected.

Refund rules

The conditions are strict

Each product order under an account carries one refund entitlement.

  • Monthly (including auto-renew): refundable within 24 hours of payment, provided no credits from that order have been used (including promotional bonus credits)
  • Annual (including auto-renew): refundable within 7 calendar days of payment, provided no credits from that order have been used; annual members who subscribed before the current pricing took effect are not eligible
  • Top-up packs and redemption codes are not refundable

"No credits used" is a hard gate — try it once and you cannot refund. So run the free tier for a week before choosing a tier.

The process

  1. Sign in to Tencent Cloud, go to submit a ticket, and find the product
  2. Fill in the details and contact information and submit
  3. Support processes it within 3 working days
  4. On approval, the refund returns by the original route within 5–10 working days
  5. Check the status on the Tencent Cloud order management page (marked "refunded")
  6. If declined, the outcome is on your tickets page

Checking usage

Sign in at workbuddy.cn → avatar → personal home → plan and usage.

You will see your current subscription plus available and used credits per resource pack. Enterprise members also see the allowance their company assigned.

Invoices

Personal: personal home → "Billing and invoices" → "View invoices" → the Tencent Cloud console invoice management.

Enterprise: enterprise admin console → "Order management" → "Invoice management" → the Tencent Cloud console. Sign in with the enterprise's bound Tencent Cloud UIN.

Legacy user transition

Paid members from before 1 July 2026 keep their entitlements and gain the new capabilities automatically, with nothing to do:

  • Allowance upgrade: base 1,500 + free-tier 500 becomes the standard plan's 4,000 per month from the next billing cycle
  • No gap: the free tier's 500 credits stop working from 1 July 2026, and 500 credits are issued once during July to cover the current cycle
  • Capability upgrade: unlimited code completion and all models available
Member typePrice and transition
Monthly auto-renew activeSix months of price protection: ¥58/mo until 31 December 2026, then ¥70/mo from 1 January 2027
Monthly, no auto-renewEntitlements run to expiry, then the new pricing applies
AnnualEntitlements run to expiry, then the new pricing applies

The free tier's 500 credits are no longer issued once you have a paid plan. Cancelling auto-renewal after the current pricing took effect means repurchasing at current prices.
